Dear BPA Advisors:

We are seeking your assistance in letting students know about a scholarship opportunity available to senior students involved in the Montana Business Professionals of America (BPA) program. For the past several years, Montana State University College of Business has awarded scholarships to members of BPA.  We will offer up to four $1,000 scholarships to deserving high school seniors who plan to pursue an education in business at MSU-Bozeman beginning fall semester, 2008.

The scholarships will be awarded at the state convention in Billings on March 2-4.  As in the past, the application consists of two parts.  The first part contains personal and academic information, including a list of honors and activities students have accomplished during their four years of high school.  The second part is a 200-300 word essay discussing the following topic:  “I have chosen to pursue a career in Business because...” Please have students include a description of how they think their personal strengths will relate to their career choice, what their career goals are and what they hope to contribute to the business community following graduation from college.  Students can apply for the scholarship on-line at:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=O5YXtGNb5JnY84mYEjPHBg_3d_3d

The application deadline is Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at  5  p.m.

Finalists for the scholarships will be announced at one of the general sessions at the convention.  Each finalist will then be required to participate in a half-hour interview with representatives of the College of Business.  Following the interviews, the decision will be made to award up to four $1,000 dollar scholarships.  If a student is named as a finalist and does not complete the interview, they will be disqualified from further consideration.

We are excited about our programs at the College of Business and will offer business students an exceptional education that will help them succeed in the future.  Our students continue to do well in classroom studies, competitions and finding jobs in their field of studies after graduation.  The most recent success of our students is that their scores from the Major Field Test - Business have consistently been at the 90th percentile, as compared to the averages from 513 other institutions across the nation.  The College is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and students are taught by a faculty member – not one class is taught by a graduate student.

The Gary K. Bracken Center is the focal point of the undergraduate student mission of the College of Business offering scholarships, travel abroad fellowships, career counseling services, mentoring programs, executives-in-residence, small classes, and curriculum development.  We have completed remodeling the physical space of the Bracken Center and students now benefit from state-of-the-art technology used in the support of student learning. Video-conferencing, interactive white-boards, specialized business databases, and multi-media presentation equipment is available to enhance coursework, service learning, and professional development. The Center for Entrepreneurship for the New West, a program of the College, continues to help students learn about the ever-growing world of an entrepreneur.
